HALSTED GENEALOGY
1. Jonas <1> Halsted moved from Stamford,
CT to Hempstead, LI in 1654,
appointed Constable 1666. In 1663 he gave his son Joseph
(probably 21 yrs) land
upon which to build a home.
His son was
2. Joseph <2> Halsted, born about 1642, married
Mercy Harcourt or Harcutt
of Oyster Bay. After living in Oyster Bay for some time,
he moved to Manhasset
in the Borough of Westchester They also owned land in New
Rochelle and Orange
County and eventually inherited the family hone on Long Island.
His will, dated
June 22, 1735, mentions Joseph as the oldest and distributes
the family parcels
as follows: The Long Island home to Joseph, the New
Rochelle tract to Samuel,
and the Orange County land to Richard.

de Veaux,
was born 23 Feb 1762 at New Rochelle and died on 5 May 1843.
