The Biblical Gardens

at St. Joseph's Church, Inch, IRELAND

What a delightful discovery when we were in southwest Ireland this spring to discover a charming Biblical Garden on the southern coast of the Dingle Peninsula at inch!

Begun only in 2001 by Dr. Eileen O'Connell and Ann Courtney

the Biblical Garden was blessed on May 24, 2003 as a sacred space.

Visitors will find a helpful booklet containing many pages of Biblical traditions and legends about plants in the Bible, illustrated with many original drawings and a beautiful plan for the garden.

The garden itself is located at the northwest corner of the church just a ston'e throw north of the ocean!

The church is a gorgeous stone building with grounds surrounded by a low stone wall.

Church member Bonnie Ashe took us through the garden and shared her enthusiasm about the success of this little place of peace.

The plants, each one a thriving, beautiful specimen, are arranged and spaced in pleasing patterns with winding paths to lead you through them.

A large standing stone, and an 18th century stone holy water font that remind us of the solidity and eternity of the divine

in the midst of living beauty that likewise draws us to God.

I'd like to explore - perhaps visit - the Dingle area of Ireland!

I'm ready to go BACK to other Garden Links.
