Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For years Mom and Dad have bent
over backwards for our guests ( two legged ones) there motto
seemed to be " At Buck Hollow Farm, details are our first thought
not an after thought". Sure, canines have been more than welcome
and we all have lots of fun playing. But while a special dog bed has
been provided for such guests, basically we've gotten crumbs.
Well brother,
that's now changed. Cheri, our new manager, brings her dog Oliver (see
photo) everyday and he has stomped his paws-demanding change.
Now, Oliver,
with some help from Cheri, bakes special peanut butter dog treats as
we drool beside the stove. We devour them as quickly as they cool.
What remains (and there is plenty) we give to guest dogs on arrival
and offer for sale at a modest price.
Respect baby-
Oliver has gotten us respect.

SKI REPORT
Buck Hollow Farm is only
30 minutes from Smugglers' Notch, below is the daily ski report.
Old
Montreal, breathtakingly beautiful, a must for any visit to Montreal!
Only 90 minutes from Buck Hollow Farm.
In the
heart of Old Montreal, the gentle slope down from the Nelson
monument affords a superb view of the Old Port. A major gathering
place and entertainment site in Old Montreal Place Jacques Cartier
draws passers by and visitors who enjoy street artists, roving
entertainers, jugglers, mimes, face painters and caricaturists.
Victorian
street lamps and flowers galore win over visitors immediately. In the
summer the surrounding sidewalk cafés and lively restaurants create a
festive atmosphere, both day and night.
Many of
the buildings, which date from the 19th century and some of which
were warehouses, have been renovated and today serve as boutiques,
artists' studios and even homes.
The street
overflows with warm and inviting restaurants offering traditional
fine French and Quebecois fare. Busy nightclubs and jazz clubs add
spice to the neighborhood nightlife. The cobblestone road,
particularly East of St. Laurent Blvd., is crowded with horse-drawn
carriages and fascinated pedestrians discovering the history of Old
Montreal. Stroll along de la Commune Street and take in the
magnificent view of the Old Port.

SPRING
SPECIAL/MONTREAL
Hi,
Our spring special (the
threefer) was scheduled to end at the end of
February. However, it has been so well received that we are extending
it until April 30. Thus arrive here any time prior to May 1,
stay three nights but pay for only two. Weather is improving so
"come on over" and enjoy early spring Vermont.
For almost a year our newsletter has included a coming events section
for Montreal. As it is such as easy day trip, one which so
many of our guests take, we are now adding a small section
each month to show a sliver of Montreal life. Hopefully each
month will provide some piece of information which will add to any
such visit you make to Montreal. A special thanks to Nina and
Tony for their input into these coming newsletters.
As always we thank you for taking a few moments to read these
newsletters (yeah, Nina) and look forward to any comments or
advice you might want to offer.

"Pudding
Chomeur" Maple Pudding Cake
You'll find
it on the menu at diners and cafes all over Montreal.
1 1/4 cups maple syrup
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
6 tablespoons softened butter
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
1 cup cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Put
oven rack in upper third of oven and preheat oven to 350F. Stir
together maple syrup, heavy cream, cider vinegar and a pinch of
salt in a small saucepan and bring to a boil, then remove from
heat. |

Beat
together butter and sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until
light and fluffy, about 1 minute. Add the egg and vanilla, then
beat until just combined (batter will be thick). Sift flour,
baking powder together into egg mixture and stir with
a rubber spatula until just combined. |

Pour
1/3 cup syrup mixture into baking dish. Divide batter in bowl
into 6 mounds with rubber spatula and spoon each mound onto
syrup mixture in 8-inch square (2 inch deep) baking dish,
spacing mounds evenly. |

| Pour
remaining syrup mixture over and around the
mounds. Bake until topping is golden and firm to
the touch, 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm, with
creme fraiche or sour cream if desired. |
