Hi again everyone. Gizmo
here.
Many days ago (before we had 16 straight days of rain) I was snoozing
peacefully, with one eye open as I always keep watch over the
place. Two guests were sitting on the front porch and I
unintentionally overheard their conversation. One said " I love that
GIZMO, he's just the greatest dog. Of course he doesn't do anything
but he's a great dog". At first I was pleased, but after my pea
brain worked for a while I wasn't so sure. DOESN'T DO ANYTHING ?
Don't they read my column, especially last months ?
And while I'm on the subject, how does Utah get away with so
much. He really is a devil dog. He was misnamed - should have been
named JAWS. Nothing escapes his teeth and he has no conscience
either.
Fetch, throw him something and he tears after it, picks it up,
returns just as fast - but runs right by you and wants YOU TO CHASE
HIM.
Unruly, untrained, undisciplined and, I guess I have to say, a
cute and lovable devil dog.

If you are visiting the Green Mountain Chew Chew Food Festival for the
first time, here's the system.
Each Restaurant and Vermont Food
Producer will be serving three food items at their booths with no
duplications. Each booth must serve one new food item each year so that
the menu will continuously change from year to year and yet still retain
many of the festival favorites. These taste treats represent their
specialties and are sure to be found on menus at their home locations.
There are three "Depot Ticket Booths" in Waterfront Park where you can
purchase brass Chew Chew food tokens priced at Nine Tokens for $5.
The object of the festival is to expose you to as many different taste treats as possible during your ride on the Chew Chew Train.
You don't want to fill up at the first booth you visit so their mantra is low prices and small taste-sized portions. That way, you get to sample many different food items from many different restaurants. No food item at the Chew Chew costs more than four brass food tokens and most are priced at three! You'll find that $5 worth of tokens will go a long way at this year's Chew Chew. Be daring and try something different!

ANOTHER YEAR - ANOTHER PROJECT
Hi,
It seems that every spring the sun rises with the sound of saws and
hammers. Last year, as many of you know, we converted the
downstairs rooms to private baths.
This year we were concerned about
the deck off the yellow room and made the decision to replace it.
"Well, as long as they're going to be here anyway ---------". The
result - the construction of a large sliding door in the suite,
leading to a new two tiered deck for both the suite and yellow
rooms. Each tier is about three times the size of the original deck
off the yellow room with a half wall between tiers affording privacy
for each set of decks.
For the suite, the new large opening also provides significantly
more light, a wonderful up close and personal view of the perennial
garden, and direct access to the outside, a great convenience for
guests traveling with dogs. We hope you enjoy !

" Eggs in a Spud
A very
different and tasteful way to serve eggs in the morning.
4 hot, large baked potatoes
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar or Gruyere cheese
8 eggs
Finely chopped fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Cut potato in half lengthwise. Scoop out about half of the pulp from each potato half. Reserve potato flesh for another use. |

Remove a thin slice of potato from the bottom to stabilize the
potato, if necessary. Set potato shells in a shallow baking dish.
Sprinkle each cavity with salt, pepper and 1 tbsp cheese. Break an egg into each cavity. |

| Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until eggs are cooked as desired. Sprinkle with parsley and pepper. Serve immediately.. |

Vermont Balloon & Music Festival,
June 2 -4 Essex Junction Hot air balloons in the shape of bees, beagles and bunnies will take flight over Champlain Valley Exposition June 2-4 as the Vermont Balloon and Music Festival returns for its third year.
The three-day, family-oriented festival has a fresh line-up of entertainment for 2006, including three top-notch music concerts, carnival rides and games, circus and animal acts, a children’s zoo, and a gathering of colorful mascots from around the area for Sunday’s special Kids’ Day activities.

LCI Farther's Day Fishing Derby
