Golden & Silver Age Cover Gallery

Hey Folks. Sorry, nothing too interesting here. Mainly just a cover gallery featuring some of the highlights of my Golden and Silver Age collection.

Golden Age Covers

First up, some Golden Age books

C. C. Beck was light years ahead of his time. His covers for Whiz Comics and Captain Marvel are some of the most fun comic book covers of all time. My Captain Marvel collection includes:

****

Next up, the Justice Society of America. The first super hero team featuring the characters who laid the ground for all who came after. My collection features:

Everbody loves the World War II covers and nobody did them better then Alex Schomburg. I only have one of these in my collection but it's a gem:

Silver Age Covers

I'm going to limit this section to key Silver and Bronze Age books, plus a few of my favorite covers from the period. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner so, unlike the Golden Age section, most of these are not scans of the actual books from my collection.

I have fewer Silver Age DC books than Marvel mainly because I didn't become interested in them until later. Never-the-less, I have some good ones:

Now the Marvels:

Modern Age Covers

I've decided to add a section on Modern Age books as well. Rather than listing key Modern Age books (amidst all the hype, who's to say what's a key book?) I thought I would just put up some of my favorite covers.

Tony Harris is one of my favorite Modern Age artists. His painted covers for Starman really stand out. In addition to a few examples of his Startman covers I've included a piece of original art from my collection:

Travis Charest is another Modern Age artist who consistantly knocks my socks off. These covers from WildC.A.T.s really need to be seen up close to be appreciated, but...

Wish List

I haven't decided how crazy I want to go in this section because I orginally intended this page as a showcase for books from my own collection. For now, I'll keep it limited to one book that I particularly like that doesn't get any exposure elsewhere. To My mind, this is the greatest Batman cover ever:
