Andrea Racek—Preschool Teacher

After receiving my Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I continued my program for an additional endorsement in Special Education. I have taught preschool through third grade in both regular and special education. My various jobs have taken me to Colorado, Massachusetts, and Basel, Switzerland. I am both the preschool teacher and special educator for children 3-5 in Fairfield. As the special educator, or EEE teacher, I am also part of the Early Childhood Programs Collaborative and have an office in the State Office Building in St. Albans. The ECP Collaborative meets monthly with its other members in Franklin NE SU and Franklin NW SU.

Who says life is boring after 50?! There is still so much to see and do. We took a year to travel across the great land of ours, and to backpack through Southeast Asia. Now we are getting accustomed to island living in our 150 year old house in So. Hero we purchased last Spring. We are getting the pastures ready for another lifelong dream next summer—our own horses! Oh, yeah...BA and MA from University of Maine—have taught 27 years—love reading (of course), gardening, and theatre.

I have been teaching at Fairfield since 1992. I live in the Cold Hollow Mt. area of Enosburg with my husband, Al, one dog, and one cat. Al is a very talented wood turner. We enjoy wilderness canoe trips in Northern Quebec and Labrador and winter camping in a heated wall tent. At home I enjoy gardening, knitting, and reading. My preference is to be outside hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, or bicycling in the summer.
