Diaconate or Board of Deacons offers spiritual leadership to the church. Worship is their central joy and concern, planning the basic direction of worship experiences and arranging special worship events. The Deacons work with the pastor to make each Sunday a time of praise to God, learning about God’s word, and ingathering of the woes and victories, laughs and tears of our separate lives. When you come into the worship area, you will meet an unmistakable power of love from greeters, ushers, and fellow worshippers. Person after person remarks about it!
Music from our organist, pianist and choir lifts our hearts to God. Prayers, readings and sermon all come together to bring us into a deep personal encounter with God’s lively word. An amazing spirit of openness and intimacy makes people free to share the awesome news of what God is doing in their lives, and the struggles to make it through this world, and then we lift it all to God in prayer. Then a time of fellowship allows people to care for one another and prepare us for the coming week! Fellowship Groups come under the care of the diaconate. You can read about them here. (link)
Afternoon Bible Study Healing Prayer is another of your church’s central ministries. None of us is in perfect shape, and prayer is at the heart of this church. A prayer chain lifts up individuals every day, and goes to prayer immediately when called. Give Bev Nichols at call to send your prayer request to the Lord. 265-3612. A prayer list in our weekly bulletin highlights a handful of families for prayer each week so that everyone in our church family receives a week of concentrated prayer. We also pray joyous blessings on birthdays and anniversaries.
Laying on hands prayer at Prayer Group Joining Our Church is one of our greatest joys. Our Diaconate hosts a 2 session seminar for people to explore our church and membership in our family. Check with Matt Pratt, Deacon chair about our next session! Ecumenical Events are another joy of our church. At Christmas we share a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service and a Christmas Cantata seeking to put Jesus back in the center of Christmas.
During Lent we distribute ashes on and join in a weekly series of worship and sharing events. On Easter Morning we will join with the other churches on the green for a sunrise service and Easter Breakfast. Then... a very special musical and Dramativ Event will make your faith Come ALive... The Living Last Supper... where teh 12 disciples appear before you and tell the story of our faith! During the summer we all join for Vacation Bible School!
