I have a great grandfather buried in a cemetery in Norton Mills.  I

don't know his first name, but his last name is Fortier.  Is that

cemetery still in existence?

Hello.

I take care of a very old town owned cemetery in grand Isle

countywhich has some headstones that need repair. I was looking to

find someone who could help mewith the repairs. I would be willing

to do all the work if there is anyone who has the knowledge andtime

to teach me. It is a shame to see these headstones lying on the

ground.

 thank you very much

Occasionally I see a gravesite located outside the fenced perimeter in a cemetery.  What are some reasons for this 'exclusion'?

Sincerely,

Lucinda Yoon

In the Hartford, VT cemetery there is a Bond family plot. Oramel and

Hannah Bond-parents. Elmer E. Bond-son. Then there are two gravestone

bases without headstones. A daughter-Josie died in 1822 and a grand-

daughter Mary also in 1822. Would there be anyone out there who might know

what became of the headstones.

Subject:       CEMETARY FEATURED ON VERMONT PUBLIC TELEVISION

To:     Web Ed

Hi,

My husband and I live outside Montreal and very much enjoy watching

Vermont Public Television.  A month or so ago, there was a travel

show on VPT that featured a cemetary in Vermont and told the story of

how William Butler Yeats was buried in this cemetary in the family

plot of a close friend he had while he lived in the states.  They

gave the name of the cemetary, the name of the family and even showed

his rather elaborate gravestone.  I did not bother to take down the

information because I thought it would be easy to find on the

internet.  But after researching this, I discover that not only is

there no mention of Yeats being buried in Vermont, but all records

clearly indicate his gravesite is in Sligo, Ireland  (which,

ironically, I have visited!!!)

Can you help clear up this confusing story?

My father is coming to visit me from Chicago this month and asked if

we could visit Vermont, a place he has never seen.  His parents

immigrated to the states from Ireland in the 1920's and I thought he

would be overjoyed to see the gravesite of one of his literary

heroes!

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,

Jeannette Folan

Do you have a search data base on-line for the Vermont cemeteries?

Would I have access to it if I join VOCA? Thanks

I tried unsuccessfully to find Waterman Cemetery in Norwich. My great-great-great-great grandfather Jeremiah Hedges and members of his family are, buried there - I have the plot of the cemetery thanks to the assistant town clerk in Norwich (thanks, Carolyn!) and got what I

Thought were excellent directions, but I couldn't find any trace of it. The woman who lived at the end of the road I was sent to said there weren't any cemeteries around. Please, latitude and longitude, like tour website, would be great.

Incidentally, I DID find Ely Cemetery (aka South Fairlee), and located the graves of my great-great-great grandfather and grandmother, and one of their daughters and her husband. Thanks to Georgette, the Fairlee town clerk.
