NEG Spring Meeting 2003

Following lunch, members will be given an optional half-hour guided tour of the History Center, formerly, the old Spaulding High School which later became the Spaulding Graded School. The building built in 1891, was designed by Vermont architect, Lambert Packard and is an interpretation of a popular mid-19th century architectural style known as Richardsonian Romanesque named for the work of Henry Hobson Richardson, a prominent Victorian architect. The building is structurally gorgeous with several turrets. Outside, stands the world famous statue of the poet Robert Burns. This is a unique opportunity to tour an old building converted into an up to date space while preserving a sense of the past through color, texture and structure. This is a fantastic chance to learn about your Vermont History Center and its many functions--collection, preservation and interpretation of Vermont history.

DIRECTIONS: You will find the center by exiting off I-89 at exit 7 and going through 5 lights.(The hospital will be on your left at the third light.) At light five, turn right into the down town area. At the intersection of route 14 and 302, there will be a statue of a man on his knees. Keep going straight on 302E and the History center will be on your left.(about 500feet from gazebo.) Look for the building with turrets!

PARKING: Three handicap parking spaces are available on the 302E side and there is an elevator for use near the parking sites.
Other parking is available to the left of the building.

PROGRAM: The Speaker for the Spring Board Meeting will be Betty Barnes presenting "Miniatures" Petite Petals and Plants. Betty has been a Master Judge since the 1980's and is also a member of the Burlington Garden Club. Betty has presented workshops in many countries and this vibrant speaker will provide an interesting workshop for all to enjoy. Come, learn, have fun at the April 3rd Spring Board Meeting.
