Christie's auctions off a Moby Wick

One of my carvings was recently auctioned off by Christie's along with several smaller pieces by Clark Voorhess, my mentor and inspiration for my career as a whale artist. Pleases me to see our work being sold together. The value of my work just went up!

Moby Wick in Europe!

My work has been featured in Living Spirit Magazine, a London based magazine created to inform, offer advice, encourage and inspire from a plarform of integrity.

BUDDHA ON A WHALE!!!!
Heavy on the mayo. My version of the "WHALE RIDER".

I was inspired after seeing the movie, WHALE RIDER to sculpt a young woman on the back of a whale. Several months later a old friend commissioned me to sculpt a Buddha. It soon ended up on a whale and turned into a Tara. A female Buddha. Funny how things happen. The photo is a conceptual rough clay model. The finished piece will be in wood. Stay tuned.

Here she is!
The piece is 27"W x22"L x16"H

Pointing Hand - Volume II
A new hand points the way to my gallery. It is cast from my original carving in wood, in FRG (Fiberglass Reinforced Gypsum). It makes for very creative signage.

I'll point the way to my Plaques Page...

The Hand That Got Away! A Great Carving - STOLEN!

My gallery in Weston is a little off the beaten path. A neighbor suggested that I carve a hand pointing the way down Mill Lane. Great idea and after almost a month of carving and painting my wooden human appendage, hung proudly underneath my sign for the Whales In Vermont Gallery. Sorry to say the life span of this great carving was short lived. It was stolen Sept 27, 2003 and hasn't been seen since. It probably hangs in some college dormitory or fraternity this very moment.

STOLEN!!

The experience made me very angry. It's very hard to make a living as a artist. Having your art work stolen by folk who haven't the foggiest clue as to what working hard for a living is all about can make one angry.

In any event. That's the way it is.

I have a $500 reward for the return of the piece or information leading to the return of the hand. If you have any information concerning this carving, please call the me at 802 824 3604, or the Vermont State Police, 802 875 2112
