Sharing Your Land With Wildlife: Tools and Concepts in Conservation Planning

APRIL 29
TUESDAY
7 PM

What do populations of bear, coyote, fisher and other wildlife species need for survival? What's the pattern of land use in Vermont and what land is usable for these wildlife species? How can towns integrate the needs of these animals into the town planning process? In an evening presentation with Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department Conservation Biologist, Jens Hilke, we'll address these and other questions. The evening will begin with some basic concepts in conservation biology such as keeping big blocks of habitat intact and connecting these blocks. We'll look at development patterns and trends in the area and look at maps to show what's already known about the area in terms of natural features and development. Then we'll review some tools to use in planning for conservation and in doing conservation projects.

The following is some basic info about the Community Wildlife Program
