Employed at
Point&Click Solutions,
a software consulting group located in Woburn Mass. Extensive work in
the building of object-oriented Java and Lisp systems and user
interfaces, editors, GUIs and GUI-building tools; ASP, XML/XSL and
Servlet-based client/server systems; design and implementation of
innovative visual user-interfaces and other GUIs; implementation of
human-modeling systems; implementation and design of large, robust
distributed systems; the re-implementation/extension of large-scale
"legacy" systems (especially the extension of Lisp systems into a
distributed Java-based environment); and early work in
Genetic Programming.
Extensive object-oriented and distributed programming in JAVA,
VBScript/ASP, XSL/XML, Tcl/Tk, JSP, various Lisp Systems, (Allegro
Lisp, Lucid Lisp, CLIM and CLOS, Symbolics LispMachines), HTML/CGI,
JavaScript, and PERL programming on Unix/Linux, Windows/NT, and
Symbolics platforms.
Previous major projects have included:

, a Lisp Implementation of the Java ObjectStream.

development of state-of-the-art human performance models.
Responsible for re-implementation of OMAR as Java-based distributed system.

Participated in building of GUI components for ARGUS, a user-interface
front end for a large-scale, distributed database of signals.
Involved in design and implementation of VIA a web-based, distributed
re-implementation of the ARGUS system.

Co-designer and primary implementer of NSDD an HTML/webpage-based
authoring/editing environment for the generation of indices into a large
acoustic signal database.

Participated in design and implementation of PRISM, an acoustic-network
modeling system. Co-designer and primary implementer of a Java
re-implementation of PRISM.

MIRAGE,
a CLIM-based editor for building
gadget-oriented Graphical User Interfaces.
- Designed and developed graphics-based user interfaces for:
Air Force's OASYS system, a system for development for large testbed systems.
NASA's RECORS system, a fault-finder pilot aiding system.
- The Navy's Capability Assessment Expert System [CASES] program,
DARPA's Object-oriented Modeling Development Environment [OOMDE] and
Planning Initiative [PE] projects.
- NASA's Information Management [IM] project.
- AMP's resource allocation program
- NASA's MAPLIST experiment. Developed mouse-driven system for the
manipulation and editing of computer-scanned and CADCAM generated images of
commercial aircraft approach-plates for use in an experiment concerning
data utilization by the members of a working flight-deck crew.
- Primary developer of BRAHMS, BBN's Rule Based Human Modeling System.
BRAHMS was used as the basis for:
- The Air Force's Automation Impact Research Testbed [AIRT] project which
models the behavior of a crew working in the Air Force's MCE radar
air-traffic control system.
- HIP, an extension of the AIRT project which involved allowing a human to
interact directly with the other (simulated) crew-members via
touch-screens, voice-understanding and speech-generation systems.
- NASA's modeling of Space Station telerobotic manipulation system.
Responsibilities have also included design and implementation of various
other display/window systems, including 2- and 3-D graphics and real-time
plotters; tools, rendering and display packages used in scientific
visualization applications; scenario manipulation tools and
presentation-based display systems; various GUI and GUI-building tools and
systems; design and building of simulated displays and simulation-modeling
of various experimental and existing (real-world) systems.
Previous employment history involved building user-interfaces, text
manipulation and formatting systems, user-display systems and general
system maintenance at Palladian software. At Texas Instruments primary
projects including pilot-assisting expert systems; D/Dedalus, an
interactive Dashboard editor; and various other systems developed for and
using Symbolics LispMachines and the TI Explorer system.
Work in the Biology Department at Indiana University involved building and
maintaining library/bibliography systems and a general system for the
modeling of RNA-folding for use in a genetics laboratory and a data entry
and reduction program for use in a population biology experiments. While
in the Astronomy Department the work dealt with the design and
implementation of a numeric modeling system as part of a project modeling
the behavior and evolution of planetary rings.
