—Heidi Lee Haugen, Ph.D. —
Introduction:
Greetings! You may recognize me from such places as:
- Winona, MN, where I grew
up;
- Jönköping,
Sweden, where I graduated from high school at Per Brahe Gymnasiet;
- Goucher
College in Baltimore, MD, where I received an undergraduate degree
in
anthropology/sociology and French;
- Montepellier, France, where I spent
my
junior year in college at Université de Paul Valéry;
- Johannesburg, South Africa, where I traveled directly after
graduating;
- Washington, DC, where I worked at National Geographic,
among other
places, for a spell before heading back to school;
- Ithaca, NY,
where I
lived for ten years while earning a Masters in Communication (1992) and a
Ph.D. in the Education
Department
(2000) from Cornell University while working for such places as the Family Life
Development Center and Cornell
Cooperative Extension;
- Seoul,
South Korea,
where I worked as a Youth Development and Technology specialist on the
4-H/Army Youth Development Project.
In the summer of 2007, Adam and I moved back to the U.S., and I
began working as an Extension
Educator serving a region in central Minnesota including Cass,
Crow Wing, and Aitkin counties. We bought a house and some land
in Brainerd, just two hours
north of the Twin Cities and completely
surrounded by trees and lakes!
