June 29, 1997—11:00 a.m

On June 29, 1997, we read our vows in the company of friends and family. It was a day filled with energy and enthusiasm, and the performers were so good that we should have sold tickets. After the ceremony and once everyone had signed our certificate, we joined a bicycle procession of about 50 riders from the Ithaca College Chapel to Stuart Park. There, the food, music, and bands kicked in to make sure everyone had a good time.

1997 Biography

Adam and Heidi met while employed at the Ithaca Intercultural Institute during the summer of 1993. They became close friends and later courted. On Adam’s birthday, April 28, 1994, Heidi successfully baked Adam’s favorite cake (chocolate with penuche frosting), wrapped up a diamond earring in a series of ten boxes (culminating with a refrigerator box), and asked him to “marry” her. He accepted. Testing their suitability for one another, they traveled across the U.S. for six weeks in “Betsy,” an old Lincoln Town Car; afterwards, they loved each other more fiercely than ever. Offering her a book of his poetry and a red, stained-glass jewelry box that he had crafted, Adam asked Heidi to “marry” him on her “half birthday,” July 28, 1996. She accepted. In March of 1997, they purchased an octagon house (circa 1860) in South Otselic, NY where they will live together after the ceremony.
