Rev. Brendan Hadash

Last updated 5/30/2001

1. Tell a little bit about yourself. What is your name? What do you do? What are your interests? Where do you live? Do others in your family use computers? Macintosh? etc.

I am Rev. Brendan Hadash. I am minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Cherry Street in St. Johnsbury. I am passionate about my non-creedal church which is growing rapidly. I have performed over 30 civil unions so far, most of them from out of state, and am greatly interested in keeping civil unions intact. I have had a civil union myself with my spouse of 17 years. I am also very interested in politics and have run for office several times. My spouse also uses our computer. I use a windows computer at Craftsbury Community Care Center where I help the seniors there to get email from their families.

2. Describe your computer experience, when you first started using computers, the computer(s) you have now and their operating system(s). Include any comments such as what you think about Mac OS X.

When I saw the first commercial for Macintosh in the 80s and realized that it was a computer for "dummies" I went out and bought one immediately. I can see my old Mac from where I sit. (What do you do with old Macs?) I now have a Power Mac G3 and use Mac OS 8.5. My current computer fills my needs and I don't see much need for me to upgrade to OS X at this time.

3. List the things you do with your computer and related equipment, why you do them, and what programs you use. What programs do you use the most or like the most? Do you use any unusual programs?

I use Netscape to surf the net. I find the majority of my sermon ideas online. I use Microsoft Word to write sermons and keep up with other church work. I enjoy playing arcade type games.

4. Are there any presentations you would like to see or read about, or any you would like to make?

I was thrilled when I went to a meeting of NVMUG and saw my first hand held. I currently have a Handspring and could not live without it. I would love to come regularly to meetings but am usually busy working on Saturdays.

5. If you appear to be the most informed NVMUG member related to a Macintosh user's question, may we e-mail question to you?

I am not much of an expert in most computer areas. If anyone was interested in links for religion, politics or gay rights I could help.

6. May we share your response in an NVMUG eNewsletter on post it on a members' page on the NVMUG web site?

Yes
