Photoshop CS Down & Dirty Tricks

Photoshop CS Down & Dirty Tricks
Author: Scott Kelby
Publisher: New Riders "Voices that Matter"
313 pages ----------$39.99

100% All new effects reflecting the latest trends in Photoshop special effects. Not an update of the Photoshop 7 book of the same name, plus a new tip on every page.

The book begins with a preamble because nobody reads introductions. Scott Kelby writes the reason he is so excited is that he learned so much doing it this book. In the preamble he wrote this book to show you effects created and used daily by advanced users, and do it so that you do not have to be an advanced user to reproduce them.

He begins the amble with what he calls the Snapshot Focus Effect. Begin with a picture showing a person taking a picture and the subject. Put a frame around the subject so that it looks like a photo. Then modify the rest of the picture so that the photo part stand out. He includes options for the frame, and for the way you make the photo part stand out.

This book uses the latest version of Photoshop. I am just a beginner using Photoshop Elements 2. I tried to duplicate the Snapshot Focus Effect to make a neighbor's house stand out from the background fall color. The idea translated, but the Photoshop CS commands did not.

I have not doubt that , if you use Photoshop CS and follow these simple step-by-step instructions, you will produced the professional effects presented in this book.

Look into this book. If you have Photoshop CS, or another recent version of Photoshop, and are interested in some of the many effects presented here, you will enjoy this book.
