The definitive resource for OS X Panther

If Mac OS X Panther can do it, you can too ....

This is a 'How to" book that describes how to use Mac OS X Panther to do things. For example, did you know that you can create a new folder by Control-clicking where you want the folder to go and selecting New Folder in the resulting menu.

The introduction says that it contains "a great deal of information and how to that you won't find anywhere else." It does include a wide range of information that I had not seen elsewhere Ñ from clicking the magnifying glass in the Download window after completing a download to see the location of the download in the Finder, to adding a Safari Debug Menu using the Terminal.

In at least one instance, this complete coverage included what at first appeared to be contradictory informaition. Early in the book, the authors say that most technicians recommend that you shut down your computer rather than putting it to sleep and give you their reasons. Later in the book they recommend that you not shut down your Macintosh more than once a day, and give you there reasons. On retrospect, the two views complement each other for a more complete presentation.

The emphasis upon simple, clear writing and conveying a ton of information that you can use and this "how to" approach, probably explains why these Bibles have been so popular for so many years. The cover says, "One hundred percent comprehensive, authoritative, what you need." I would say, full of interesting information about how you can use Panther and the programs that came with it.
