A Guide for Home, Office, and the Road

The back cover says that Mac OS X Unwired is a one-stop wireless information source for technically savvy mac OS X users. That is true, but if you are not "technically savvy" about wireless computer technology, this may be the best source to become savvy.

Mac OS X Unwired explains how wireless connections work so you understand the principles involved. Then it provides step by step instructions you need to make it work.

It covers AirPort and other forms of Wireless-Fidelity including how to access Wi-Fi on the road. There is a special chapter on wireless security. It describes Bluetooth and how to use it to connect to devices such as PDAs and how to iSync. Using mobile phones and newer forms of cellular telephone connecting are described with advice for road warriors. I found the chapter on Rendezvous particularly interesting with the instructions for Peer-to-Peer networking, iChat AV, Safari, sharing files, and more. To complete the coverage, infrared and radio frequency are included.

There is no attempt to make Mac OS X Unwired humorous. Just clear presentations so that you gain an understanding of connecting and communicating without wires.
