In June, 2002, Geof Gonter told our NVMUB how to download music from the Internet. Some of it was legal, and some was not exactly. Finding the music you wanted was not easy.That was before the iPod and iTunes revolution. Downloading a single tune for a fee cost about $3.00, many tunes were available for free, and a large proportion was shared illegally.
In December 2001 Scott Pelok demonstrated the iPod to NVMUG, in March 2006 he brought five video iPods. The welcome revolution has gone beyond all expectations.
There are now many different iPods from the Shuffle to those capable of showing your pictures and even videos on a 2.5 inch screen. Most of the legal music downloaded from the Internet today is bought on iTunes which is already in Version 6. The iTunes collection is so large, finding the music you like is so easy, and the cost is so low at 99 cents each, that most people would not think of looking for illegal sources. And iTunes now contains books, videos, and the new podcasts.
