This is a pure folk album, with a set of quiet yet powerful and evocative
songs in the West Texas tradition. Nanci's voice sounds strong, mature,
and confident -- but different from her later style. Overall, this is a
strong debut, featuring "West Texas Sun," "Song for Remembered Heroes,"
and "Alabama Soft Spoken Blues." The title track, which tells the story
of a lifelong friendship with "Mary-Margaret," has become a signature song
of Nanci's.
