PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE—May 12, 2005
In recognition of Green Up, Student Council took a field trip to the Cobb
Bridge and to River Road in Gaysville. Students
(Taylor Benson, Randi-Jo Locke, Mikey Piscitelli, Christian Thompson, Rebecca
Burns, Jake Hurwitz, Jenna Hyde, Shaina Iovanni, Caleb LaPlante, Devan Paradis,
Tyler Rogers, Dalice Russ, Megan Skudlarek, Jon Wardwell, Levi Whitaker,
Samantha Abrams, Reba Hart, Arienne Munyon, J.J. Benson,
Abby Hurwitz, Trevor Mears, Lyndsay Squier and
Payton Veilleux) did a great job of greening up.
Thanks to Reba’s dad, Rick Hart, and Donna Gallant for accompanying us
on the trip.
We hope to see you at the Annual School Budget meeting at 6:30 pm (not
7:00 pm) on May 12 in our multipurpose room. Childcare will be provided in the
library. We are looking for a great
turnout.
More good news—the Stockbridge PTO made almost $300 at their last PTO
spaghetti dinner. Big thanks to
them. You will notice when you
enter the MPR that the PTO bought a new chair rack that is much smaller than our
old racks. Check it out! If you are interested in our old racks, please let me know.
First come, first served. We
really appreciate all the hard work of the PTO and families in support of
Stockbridge Central.
Thank you to the Robertson family for the donation of a ball shag and
golf balls for our blossoming golfers.
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, VAC (Vermont Achievement
Center) is looking for parents who might be interested in working at Stockbridge
Central from 3:00-6:00 pm during the school year.
If you are interested in working for VAC, please call 775-2395.
Writing of positions at Stockbridge, we are looking for
a bus driver (sorry to write that Ron is moving on!) If you are interested in being a school bus driver, you must
have a valid Commercial Driver’s License.
I have a copy of the school bus section of the Commercial Driver’s
License Manual. Please let me know
if you are interested. Thanks.
I wrote a $500 wellness grant for fitness/yoga classes for the
faculty/staff and we received the grant. We
will offer classes to school personnel and adult community members next fall.
Hope that we will have parents and community members join us!
Second graders are participating in the Developmental Reading Assessment
over the next few weeks. You may
see signs asking for quiet as you enter the building.
We appreciate your help in promoting a positive testing environment.
Thank you.
Over the next few weeks, it seems to get busier and busier.
Many children are involved in after school activities and a lot is going
on. Remember those bedtimes and
check out the following article from the Parent Institute.
