The site is part of a joint effort by several Federal agencies
to promote a national agenda for children and foster positive
youth development, and offers parents information on topics such
as child care, education, health and safety.
Colorado Parent Information
and Resource Center
This page is produced by the Colorado Parent Information
and Resource Center, which is funded by the Department of Education's
Goals 2000 Educate America Act. Much of the material in this site
is of particular interest to parent educators. But this page does
contain a great section with tips for parents. You can also find
links to other good sited for parents here.
The Center for
Effective Parenting
This page, produced by The Center for Effective parenting is also
funded under the US Dept. of Education's Goals 2000 Initiative.
There is very useful material here for both parents and parent
educators on a wide variety of topices. They also host a well
produced "Links" page.
Parents Place
Parenting tips from parent educators, as well as other
parents; articles on nearly any parent-related issue.
Kid Source
Four categories of information: newborns, toddlers, preschoolers,
and school-aged. Kid Source offers a variety of articles, products
and services and links to other sites. Articles, are grouped by
health, education, recreation, and parenting, using a five-star
rating system.
Parent Soup
Parenting tips, discussion groups, chat groups, and a variety
of topics on which parents can seek and receive "expert"
advice. Parent Soup also offers "communities" for parents
in each stage of parenting. Check out the name finder for expectant
parents!
Parent
Time
This is a weekly electronic newsletter to which parents
can subscribe. Parents can customize the articles to their child's
age, or their stage in pregnancy. It contains parenting-related
articles, health information, articles on relationships, bulletin
boards, chats, and an "ask the experts" section. You
can also find fun topics such as recipes, baby names, and a cartoon
of the day.

Web
Another free weekly electronic newsletter offered to subscribers.
This newsletter allows you to select a topic and read articles
on this topic by experts in the field. Parents are invited to
add their comments and read other parents comments in the "forum"
section. Parents can also access articles, surveys, and chat with
other parents during live and scheduled chats.

Guide to the Internet
This web page is sponsored by the US Department of Education.
It contains a pamphlet to assist and encourage parents to learn
the internet so they can help their children develop these same
skills. Find helpful, step by step information for parents including:
a history of the internet, basic computer terms, how to use the
internet, and practice examples. There is also a section related
to "child-safe-surfing" issues. Contains lots of links
to family fun sites also!
National
Parent Information Network
This site contains information for parents including
full text publications on a variety of parenting topics (some
in Spanish), and reviews and abstracts of other resources (books
and newlsetters) for parents. In addition, it sponsors a monthly
electronic newsletter called Parent News, with archives dating
back to 1995.
Parenting
Matters
Articles related to parenting issues: New articles are
added frequently. It features articles targeted towards specific
audiences [ie: as fathers, grandparents.] Parents can post questions
for counselors to respond to, or share ideas/opinions on the bulletin
board. This site links into LifeMatters newsletter, which hosts
forums for both parents and non-parents on the topics of health,
relationship, success, and nutrition.

Center
Advice from experts in a variety of fields relateing to parenting
or children; chat rooms, newsletters, and reviewed products for
children and parents.
Sesame Street
Parents
Produced by the makers of Sesame Street, this site hosts articles
for parents on child behavior/discipline issues, education, safety,
health and family & community issues.
National
Institute on Media and the Family
Here you can research your family's media viewing habits!
NIMF displays a rating system called KidScore, which rates TV
shows, movies, video and computer games from a family oriented
perspective.
Children, Youth
and Family Consortium
The Table of Contents section provides a wealth of links, articles,
and publications on parenting related issues for parents, parent
educators, and education personnel, as well as information about
the CYFC. Also hosts the site, FatherNet.
Parent News
Parenting articles and tips: Tips feature a variety of different
subjects. You'll also find a movie review section, and a bibliography,
although the bibliography is not annotated. There are links for
educators sites and links for kids to access to receive help in
homework.

Moms Online
This site features all sorts of great information for moms. Has
a large collection of parenting tips from other moms. In addition,
there is a chat room, an "ask the pros" section, a message
board, and fun sections, such as polls, crafts, recipes, baby
namer, etc.
Mother
& Child Online
Mother & Child Online is a monthly magazine targeted
towards mothers. It has been in operation since November 1996.
A typical issue contains a couple of feature articles, and has
regular departments such as Safety Zone, Software Review, and
an Activities Page. Back issues are also easily accessible.

Fatherhood Initiative
This site offers membership to the NFI, but the majority
of membership benefits for web purposes seem to be available to
non-members as well. It offers an online catalog of resources
that can be ordered, back issues of "Fatherhood Today,"
tips from other fathers, links to fatherhood-related web sites,
and a forum which links fathers to educational counselors and
other fathers.
National Center for Fathering
This site offers lots of good articles/tips for fathers, links,
materials for father support groups, and a bookstore through which
fathers can order books and tapes.
Father
Net
The Child, Youth and Family Consortium host this page. Targeted
towards fathers, it contains articles and essays of interest to
fathers. There are links to father-related newsletters, discussion
groups, and links to other father-related web sites.
The Fatherhood
Project Home Page
The Fatherhood Project site mostly lists publications and programs
that have been developed by the project, as well as a list of
links to other father related/parent educator related sites. Ordering
information is provided to order the featured publications.

Baby Center
Expectant parents can access this web site to obtain articles
(lots!) on various topics related to expectant and new parents.
It also features debates, checklists, interactive tools, polls,
and listings on a variety of topics. The Baby Monitor, a weekly
newsletter, which parents can subscribe to, is published from
this site. A medical board consisting of doctors, psychologists,
midwives, etc approves all articles.
Parents
of Preemies
This site was developed by the University of Wisconsin and The
Center for Perinatal Care at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
It contains a wealth of valuable information specific to parents
of premature infants.
Baby Bag Online
This site is targeted to parents of children from prenatal to
preschool. It contains lots of departments with parenting tips,
although not as many as some of the other sites, plus issues related
to pregnancy and childbirth. In addition, it includes recipes
for new parents using baby food, product and book reviews, bulletin
boards targeted to specific groups, a Q & A forum for parents
to seek expert advice, and an online boutique for parents to browse
and shop.

Kids Doctor
Created by a physician to provide parents with general information
about childhood ailments, this web site offers quite an extensive
wealth of general medical information. A search engine allows
parents to search for information related to a specific illness,
and an email address lets parents send their questions to the
doctor for general, non-individualized information.
KidsHealth.org
This site is divided into sections for kids, parents, and health
care professionals. It is sponsored by the Nemours Foundation.
It has an easy search option to access the entire web site database
for information on a specific subject. It also has links to other
pages with interesting information.
Healthfinder
This site is a consumer-related gateway to health and human services
information from the U.S. government. The search engine links
the consumer to resources on a particular subject, offers links
to the latest health news, events and press releases, and provides
links to online journal publications. Also supplies links to toll
free numbers, self-help and support group information.
MedWeb
Pediatrics
This site contains a multitude of medical links on almost
any possible topics. Topics range from Parenting to AIDS to Consumer
Health. A good starting point for any pediatric related web search.
National
Center for Health Statistics
Information about birth, death and health statistics can be located
here. Access to news releases, fact sheets, minutes from NCHS
meetings, and a bibliography with brief abstracts of journal articles
published by the NCHS is contained on this site. There is a "frequently
asked questions" segment regarding health statistics and
links to other health-related sites.

Village
A great source for parents of special needs children!
Parents of children with disabilities can utilize this web site
to access resources for disability related topics. There are chat
rooms and web boards for parents to interact with other parents
that share their issues and needs. This site also features a catalog
of disability-related products, a listing of educational links
for parents of disabled children, and a listing of recreation
and leisure links.
The ARC of
the United States
Formerly the Association of Retarded Citizens of the United States,
the ARC is an organization committed to the welfare of children
and adults with mental retardation and their families. Although
some information is targeted to adults with mental retardation,
there are resources listed for parents of children with mental
retardation.
