WELCOME to the official homepage of Vermont Psychiatric Survivors, Inc., a consumer/survivor organization trying to fight tokenism, stigma, ignorance, and disunity among advocates. RECOVERY is the star we can all reach out and grasp. Join us!WE PROMISE to keep this page updated frequently, and we would appreciate talking to any other consumers/survivors around the world about how things are in your backyard. Areas of particular interest to us are the prevalence of involuntary treatment, particularly involuntary medication, in your state or country; recent changes in law influencing these levels; consumer/survivor run alternative business or service provision initiatives locally; and provision for homeless folks labeled mentally ill in your area.VPS started out as a sponsor of peer run support groups that could be either support, educational, or social. There are now 12 peer support groups around Vermont receiving anywhere between $300 and $1200 a quarter to run their activities. (See the section on support groups for a list). VPS also has 6 paid staff, 2 outreach,1 administrative assistant,
